What to expect

Initial Contact & Our Sessions

Making the choice to seek counselling can often be very daunting and quite an uncomfortable and vulnerable decision.

I offer a free initial 15 minute phone call or video call to allow us to meet one another and understand if you feel I am a good fit for you, and if I feel I will be able to offer you what you need.

If you decide to go ahead and book in, I will provide you with a copy of my counselling agreement which details policies, ways of working, confidentiality, and hopefully anything else you may need to know.

Within our first session, we will run through this and ensure you are happy with it and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We will discuss how sessions will work and understands any specific needs you may have within sessions. Our first session together will be a getting to know one another session as it's important for you to feel safe and comfortable talking to me in order to allow you to fully explore whatever it is that you need to bring.

I completely understand that counselling can be a very vulnerable and uncomfortable process and I will endeavour to help you to feel safe and comfortable every step of the way, along with encouraging you to share anything you may need differently from our sessions in order to get the most out of them. We will regularly check in and review how things are going and how you're feeling about our sessions and make changes or highlight challenges where needed. Ultimately, your goal is my goal.

Whenever you feel you are ready to end - whatever reason this may be for - we will discuss this and arrange a final session together.
